Description

Mitsubishi Montero/Pajero/Shogun Disc Brake Rotor Replacement: The Full Kiwi Guide
> Your Mitsubishi's rotors are key for safe stopping. Daily driving, towing the boat to the bach, or tackling tough conditions can really punish your rotors. This guide will help you diagnose and replace those worn-out discs. Don't get caught out with dodgy brakes!

Symptoms That Led You Here
• Annoying squealing or scary grinding when you hit the brakes
• The steering wheel or brake pedal is vibrating like crazy
• Taking way too long to stop
• Rotors that look all scored, cracked, or rusty as
• Brake pads wearing unevenly – dodgy!

Will it pass WOF?
Worn or rooted disc brake rotors? Yeah, nah, that's a WOF failure for sure. They gotta be above minimum thickness and not cracked to bits to pass the test.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10 (Some mechanical know-how needed)
Estimated Time: 2-3 hours per axle (allow a full cafe lunch break)
Tools Required: Jack and stands, wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, caliper tool (optional – but makes life easier!)

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you start yanking things apart, safety first, yeah?
• Safety Glasses: Carbon dust and brake cleaner? Not a good combo for your eyes. Protect those peepers!
• Nitrile Gloves: Keep your hands clean and away from brake gunk. Trust me, you don't want that stuff on your skin. Grab some Nitrile Gloves.
• Brake Cleaner: Blast away brake dust and grime from the new rotors before you fit them. Makes everything work better. Get some Brake Cleaner.
• Caliper Grease: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins helps everything move freely and prevents annoying squeals.

Expert Recommendation
Worn rotors are a serious safety risk, especially on a Montero/Pajero/Shogun that might see some tough conditions. Replacing them is a no-brainer for peace of mind. Give Bob @ CARFIX a yell if you're not sure what you need!

Fitment Notes
Double-check that the rotors fit your specific Montero/Pajero/Shogun model and year. Some models have different sizes or need special brake pads.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
