Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — DBA Style
> Disc brake rotors are a super important bit of kit in your Holden Captiva's braking system. These wear down over time from all that friction, especially if you're doing a lot of stop-start driving around town or hauling the kids around in your Captiva 7.
Spotting the Trouble
• Hear any squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes?
• Feel a bit of a wobble or pulsing through the brake pedal?
• Taking longer to pull up than usual?
• See any scoring or damage on the rotor itself?
• Notice your brake pads wearing unevenly?
Will it pass WOF?
Worn or dodgy brake rotors are a common cause for WOF failures here in NZ. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands – your life's worth it.
• Cleanliness is King: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. Keeps the workspace tidy, too.
• Protect Your Peepers: Safety glasses are a must. That brake dust can really irritate the eyes. You can find some good ones here.
• Glove Up: Keep your hands clean and protected with a set of Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and old brake fluid aren't the best for your skin.
• Grease is Your Friend: Use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins and the back of the brake pads to keep things moving smoothly and prevent squeaks.
Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors can really mess with your Captiva's stopping power, especially when you're fully loaded. Replacing them will keep you safe on the road. The DBA rotor is top notch, but CARFIX has a bunch of options to fit your budget. Bob @ CARFIX is always keen to help you find the perfect part for your Holden Captiva. Fitment Notes
Double-check that the new rotors are the right fit for your specific Captiva model and year. Rotor sizes and bolt patterns can vary, especially between the Captiva 5 and Captiva 7.

• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
